Merry Christmas!

I introduced Noodle to “A Christmas Story” tonight … she just turned 7 and I think I was 8 or 9 when I first saw it at the theater in 1983.  She laughed all the way through it, and kept asking me if Ralphie was going to shoot his eye out! As I was tucking Noodle in to bed, I remembered how I felt as a kid on Christmas Eve … awaiting the arrival of Santa.  Back then, we didn’t have the Norad Santa Tracker, but we did have Rudolph’s nose … it was actually the red light on top of a close-by radio tower … but it got me into bed in a hurry for fear Santa would fly right by!

Here’s a blast from Christmas past … 1977 to be exact. I wanted a Snoopy that year and Santa obliged! He’s sitting there in a red shirt.

I was so cute back then!

I’m sitting on my grandma’s lap – Doris (Schuster) Raines.  She passed away about 2 weeks before Noodle was born, but I know she’s been watching us ever since!

Okay, so I still have Snoopy … and the Ragedy Ann and Andy dolls, too.  I’m sure the Santa disappeared by way of the MANY doggies we had when I was little.

I’m still cute … just in an almost 40 kind of way. Snoopy has held up well over the years, even if he’s a little dingy and floppy. Noodle has her own Snoopy that wears a blue shirt. She sat him on the shelf next to mine so they could be friends.

Some things just need to be kept, and the Christmas presents we asked Santa for as kids are on my list of keepers.

Tonight, Noodle snuggled into bed with her new glow pet, FurReal fur baby and a few other toys from Grandma (we celebrate Christmas Eve with MPG’s family) and is presently dreaming of ponies and puppies … or maybe video games and skate boards. I’m going to snuggle into bed and dream of new cookie sheets, a wand mixer and various other foodie items to add to my kitchen collection … and maybe Snoopy.

Merry Christmas!
